DJI April Fools Tricks | DJI Mamo | Now your phone can fly too
On April 1st, DJI shared tweet on WeiXin a social messaging network in China, sharing the news that they had released DJI Mamo, the world first phone case drone. You may read the tweet over here. However the post is in Chinese, so let me translate for you:
DJI Mamo is a foldable phone drone case, that allow user to place they phone inside and turn it into a small camera drone. The drone case is weight at 103 gram and has a range of 15 meters with 13 minutes of flight time.
As the phone already used as a camera for the drone, so no controller is needed to control the drone. The drone can be control with voice and gesture control. The drone also packed with AI imaging system, where it will find the best position to take a picture for you, so that you don't need to worry about it. Other than that, it also packed with Active track 3.0. Which provide a more accurate tracking and follow you any where and whatever you do.
For the safety feature, DJI Mamo uses the upgraded version of FlightAutonomy system. 3 ways sensor, front, bottom, back, makes it much safer to fly. With APAS technology, DJI Mamo is able to plan an appropriate flight path to avoid obstacles automatically in flight. The DJI Momo also packed with 4 quick shots option Dronie, Rocket, Helix and Circle.
At the end of the tweet, there is a button to reveal the price, but after you click on it, it show "Happy April Fools"
My thoughts, the name Mamo is the combination of the Mavic drone series and the Osmo handheld gimbal series. Mavic+Osmo=Mamo The name very suit the product, as the phone represent the Osmo series while the drone case represent the Mavic drone series. Even though this is just an April Fools pranks but this is a very good idea and very cool product, who know maybe in the future DJI might release it?
Thanks for reading!
